— About The Project

Food Network is sending sandwich king, Jeff Mauro, and an array of professional chefs to unsuspecting American suburbs to raid fridges and pantries in their new competition series, Kitchen Crash. Our goal was to create a show package that focused on the down-to-earth, neighborhood vibe that makes this 100% outdoor cooking show unique.

— Considerations

The first step in creating this package was tackling the show’s logo design. Food Network was looking for something simple and modern, that also had a bit of implied action in the movement of the letterforms. And since the show takes place in suburban streets across the country, we would need to avoid using any indoor kitchen-related imagery overall.

— Our Approach

In order to have complete compositional control over the idyllic, Americana scene that serves as the backdrop for the show logo open, we pulled in a mix of suburban elements from various photos and composited them together to create our perfect image of suburban living. We also used the great outdoors, specifically blue skies and yellow sunshine, to inform our bright and playful primary color palette.
